A friend of mine in Malaysia sent me this video he took this summer. His girlfriend is from Sarawak and I guess they were preparing some local dishes. One of them consisted of 'sago worms' which are larvae taken from trees.
Lots of cultures eat insects. I even.... intellectually have a curiosity about trying them. They're supposed to be quite decent to the environment in how they are raised. However, as with most of my meals, I'm really concerned at how it tastes and if I am going to contract any diseases/parasites (if an exotic locale).
"They taste like shrimp once you've fried them. Really. No, really..." said my friend. Okay. Well, the next time I'm in Sarawak, I'll give them a try.... afterall, I like shrimp.
