Louis Braille is being honored on the new silver dollar...

It's interesting because I had never read about Louis Braille before. It's nice that he's being recognized and I've enjoyed learning about him recently.

I have a question though...

Has an African-American ever been honored on our currency?

So many from that community have given so much... sometimes too much...

This is such a fun idea... a fish spa where you dip your body parts in and the fish exfoliate.

This reminds me of times spent lingering in the waters of Kapoho Pond at the Oishi property. As kids, we'd go swimming there. Snorkeling.... laying about in the sun until we were overheating... then leaping back into the water, hopefully making a splash that would inconvenience another cousin.

One of the things I really enjoyed was sitting on the gravelly shallow areas and watching/feeling the small fish pick on my feet. They cruise my toes and heels for skin. They'd exfoliate and tickle as they cleaned.

My Kapoho
Clip clap, clip clap,
Loud talk and crowded car,
Warm water, hot sun
surf breaking in the distance,
laughing cousins,
chatting aunties and uncles,
colorful, flavorful, savory bento,
broke da mouth,
talk story of long time gone,
reflections of my ancestors,
swimming in jewel waters,
poking, sharp rocks, itai itai.
Quiet ride back to Hilo, nap time in car.
